Advisory Board

The Mass Redistribution Fund is governed by an Advisory Board of community leaders from Massachusetts. They came together across issues and geography to help unite our communities in this time of crisis.

Among other responsibilities, the Advisory Board nominates and vets all recipient groups and will allocate funds according to criteria collectively developed by Board members.

Nia Evans

Executive Director of Boston Ujima Project, which is organizing Greater Boston area neighbors, workers, business owners, and investors to create a community-controlled economy.

Dave Jenkins

Organizational consultant and grassroots fundraiser supporting organizing groups in New England. Former Program Director of REEP at Alternatives for Community and Environment (ACE), and board member of Student Immigrant Movement (SIM).

Bethany Li

Senior Attorney leading the Asian Outreach Unit at Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS), which supports movement building in the Asian American community and provides bilingual, culturally sensitive legal representation to help poor Asian immigrants secure the basic necessities of life – food, shelter, income and safety.

Elvis Mendez

Organizing Director at Neighbor to Neighbor, a Massachusetts statewide membership organization confronting the triple crisis of income inequality, environmental degradation, and racism.

Monique Nguyen

Executive Director at Matahari Women Workers’ Center, working with women of color, immigrant women, survivors and families to end gender-based violence and exploitation.

Lisa Owens

Executive Director at City Life/ Vida Urbana, a national leader in the anti-displacement/ community stabilization movement, fighting for racial and economic justice.

Aaron Tanaka

Executive Director of the Center for Economic Democracy (CED), a social movement building organization advancing visions and practices for a just and sustainable world beyond capitalism.

Alex Papali

Organizer with Clean Water Action MA (CWA), working towards energy democracy and zero waste, and Jericho Boston, local node of a national network working to support people targeted or incarcerated for their political work.

Phillip Reason

Former organizer with Boston Workers Alliance, Community Labor United, Painters IUPAT DC 35, and Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR SEIU).

The Mass Redistribution Fund is hosted by the Center for Economic Democracy (CED), a Boston based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. CED provides fiscal sponsorship and administrative support to multiple social justice funds with over $5 million in philanthropic and investment assets under management.
